Sole Mare Tuna is less expensive but the same if not better quality than another brand I used to buy. I love that it retains the chunkiness unlike many mushy tuna brands.

Nearly 5 years ago I had a triple heart by-pass at 49 years of age. I am wary of trying new products but a friewnd put me onto sole marie tuna. It is the only plain tuna I can eat straight out of the can. Unless someone else has a better alternative Im sticking with this brand. Some more sole marie flavours might be a good idea as well.

When you want that real authentic Meditteranean taste then you have to choose tuna in olive oil and Sole Mare is just great. I love a tuna nicoise salad with this great quality and great tasting tuna. Also makes great Vitello Tonnato.

Here is a great way to enjoy Sole Mare tuna. *Tuna, lemon and Rocket Risotto* Ingredients (serves 4) 2 x 185g cans tuna in oil with chilli 1 small onion, chopped 1 1/2 cups (375ml) fish stock 350g arborio rice 100ml white wine 1/4 cup grated parmesan Grated rind and juice of 1 lemon, plus extra zest to serve 50g wild rocket Method Drain the tuna, reserving 1 tablespoon of the oil, and flake to separate. In a heavy-based saucepan, heat the tuna oil over medium heat and cook the onion for 1-2 minutes or until softened. Mix the fish stock with an equal amount (375ml) of water. Add the rice to the onions and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring to coat the grains well. Add the wine and allow alcohol to evaporate. Once the wine has been absorbed, add the diluted stock a ladleful at a time until all liquid is absorbed - this will take about 20 minutes. When rice is cooked, stir in tuna, parmesan and lemon rind and juice, then season to taste. Serve on a bed of rocket and garnish with extra zest.

I just joined tonight and after checking all your reviews and recipe tips on Sole Mare Tuna, who needs to consult the Cook Books. Am in the process of completely changing my partner and my diets and I couldnt be more happy with all the ways to prepare tuna. What I have bought in the past I have had to heavily embellish with spices, herbs and olive oil. I had only a couple of recipes so am pleased with your tips on how to serve. Thank you all.

My kids (4 and 5 yo) never liked tuna. Bought this particular one on advice from a friend. The kids demolished 2 large tins over the weekend...telling me "Mum I just love this tuna, its delicious." Cant beat that kind of recommendation!
10 Mar 10   Theresa [Gelorup  WA ]

We love this very much and so does our cat Sookie. No offence. This is one very fussey little moggey so if it was no good the nose would be in the air.
9 Mar 10   KAREN J [CANTERBURY  VIC ]

Having read all of these reviews and usually buying Tuna in Brine or Spring Water, I can hardly wait to get down to the shops to try Sole Mare in Olive Oil. It sounds delicious!
9 Mar 10   beth [altona meadows  VIC ]

As I have an iron deficiency, I find that tuna is a great source. Its all about the ingredients as far as Im concerned. If it tastes good its a bonus! I love this one because its got everything I need in one little can, and you cant beat that! I eat it on crispbreads or in a green salad. Pretty versatile Id say.
7 Mar 10   Margretha [Rothwell  QLD ]

Just made a tuna salad for lunch using spinach, sun dried tomatoes, marinated fetta and of course Sole Mare tuna. Perfetto! Low in calories and high in nutrients too.

Glenns own special reipe. Boil up some plain noodles, rinse in cold water and set to one side. In a wok heat up the tuna in oil, add garlic and chilli, a little oyster sauce and fish sauce plus a dash of light soy sauce. Stir in the noodles, sit back and enjoy.

My 19 year old son decided to lose weight and the first thing we went out to get was the sole mare tuna in olive oil - my son eats it in the morning lunch and dinner and he has lost a considerable amount of weight. Its tastes so yummy and he got me hooked on it as well
4 Mar 10   mary rose [hillside  VIC ]

I recently helped a very elderly man shift house and when organising his kitchen I found that he had no less than 17 cans of this particular tuna! The electricity wasnt yet connected so we had to make our lunch from what was in the cupboard. That would be Sole Mare tuna on rice crackers with some chopped shallots from the tiny back garden! Perfetto. Just the right balance for a tasty light lunch.
4 Mar 10   June [Balmoral  QLD ]

I usually buy Tuna in Spring water or Brine and occassionally the snack tuna but have never taken notice of the oils in it, but certainly will from now on

3 Mar 10   Lois [Medowie  NSW ]

I love " SOLE MARIE Yellow fin Tuna" I made a recipe that is enjoyed by everyone. Cook some small pasta spirals and place in a greased shallow oblong casserole dish, chop some red capsicum, bunch broccolini, 3 spring onions and a bunch of asparagus and cook in a high powered microwave for a couple of mins, place over the pasta and combine with 2 small cans or more of tuna and a cup of pasta bake sauce, sprinkle shredded tasty cheese over the top and bake until cheese has melted in 180 deg oven its such an easy quick dish that can be cooked and eaten straight away or store in the fridge for a couple of days.
3 Mar 10   selena [Albert Park  VIC ]

Sole Mare Tuna is our family weekly favorite, it helps to make the best sunday night tuna mornay, and its healthier too.
3 Mar 10   Maxine [Ashgrove  QLD ]

I have recently become a big advocate for tuna. After eating Sole Mare tuna every day twice a day for the past two weeks as part of my calorie, carb and fat controlled diet, i have already lost 2 kilos! Its a healthy meal and adding it with wholemeal bread, red onions, lettuce and low fat mayonnaise, it tastes amazing!

sole mare tuna is a great taste treat, the first tuna that i have been able to find in 100% olive oil. lovely chunky flesh good with a salad or just on a tuna cheese and lettuce sandwich..a real treat, great work sole mare! STEVE. GOULBURN. NSW.
3 Mar 10   stephen [goulburn  NSW ]

Sole Mare Tuna has to be my favourite tuna, the beautiful tuna chunks are of far superior quality to other brands which can sometimes look like mush. The fact that the tuna is in olive oil is also a bonus, and the great firm tuna flesh make for easier draining so you can have as much or as little of the olive oil as you like.
3 Mar 10   Angela [Williamstown  VIC ]

I found Tuna in Olive Oil great for lunch with fresh salad a lttle vinegar and pepper. Also with 4 beans mix and corn. Very nice and the Tuna is in sizes
3 Mar 10   Ian [Adelaide  SA ]

Sole Mare tuna is the best tinned tuna there is. The flesh is a first class cut, none of these cheap off cuts/bits and pieces you get with chepaer brands. Also, the olive oil is of high quality. Also, you get more tuna in your tin than with other brands, which are full of water.
3 Mar 10   Diana [Mont Albert North  VIC ]

I always buy this brand - I like the tender tuna and the fact that its in olive oil.
2 Mar 10   J [Killarney Hts  NSW ]

Its the best eaten straight from the can with just a dash of cider vinegar !
2 Mar 10   jennifer [renmark  SA ]

The tuna is the best thats why it is a bit more expensive you pay for quality. The Tuna and beans is great too a meal in a can.
2 Mar 10   Cathy [Blacktown  NSW ]

2 Mar 10   SUSAN [ESPERANCE  WA ]

2 Mar 10   helen [Southport  QLD ]

I eat tinned tuna at least three times a week for my working lunch, either in a salad or in a sandwich I prefer Sole Mare Tuna in Olive Oil because the tuna is firmer and tastes much better than brands that are packed in springwater or plain oil.
2 Mar 10   Christine [East Brighton  VIC ]
